Can't Use Webradio?
« on: October 25, 2004, 04:34:00 PM »

Hi all,

First of all i'm very impressed with XBMC, but i have a problem using the webradio feature.

I have a folder full of shoutcast links, but they are with the ".cs" extension. I'm not sure if they should work, because they aren't.

I've read the manual, but there it only says, enable your webradio feature at settings and your done.

I've found a post on this forum where they talk about the python script "simplekml.py". I'm quoting:

QUOTE
As for the webradio, this is what I *think* I did to get it to work. if you open the simplekml.py script, you'll notice that it uses a cache folder. The version of th escript i had in my download of 1.1 had it pointing to Q:\scripts\cache. I'm thinking that since that directory is not there by default, the script fails. So you can try creating that directory. While I was in the middle of this, I found a script that had the temp folder pointing to Q:\scripts\simplekml and used that script instead and it all works now.

Now, i've looked in my Python folder but this file isn't there. Is this what is causing the problem?

Anyway, i've been searching for hours now and tried all kinds of tools to get it working, but without succes.

Anyone around here who has the solution or able to help me in any way?

Thanx in advance,
AC

The file would be in the scripts folder.

you need simplekml.py in there.  You may also need the actual python stuff too (most builds do not come with python - you gotta get it {from the usual places} and put it in there.)

I do seem to remember v1.1 being built, complete with python + scripts, go get that + then try again!

Good luck.

Thanks for your reply!

I've got v1.1 running. I just found the simplekml.py file and editted the same way as described in the quote part, but still nothing happens.

Just to make sure, are the ".cs" files valid radio stream files for the XBOX or are they just useless?

I've no idea what to do next to make this work?

I seem to have the Python files. There are 12 .py files in it and 2 rar files. One of the rar files called "scripts.rar" contains more .py files like download_xskit303_exe.py etc...and a folder called Medusa.

Do i just have to set up anything in the .xml file or is it something else?
I've got access to my network etc. It all works besides this darn streaming radio which should be very simple because i hardly can find any usefull info about this. Probably nobody has this problem, so i'm probably the n00b this time

Hi,

Your shootcast station pack is compatible for XBMP ,
Because xbmp just read *.sc (and pls) for access  shootcast station.

To read a file stream for listening shootcast on xbmc, you've just create a playlist  with winamp and save the playlist in *.pls extention.

I have an alternative to kml , but it's not a script  it's just a pack ..^^
KML is very good, easy and update too much :) , test my pack and kml and the world is in your hand .

My little pack giving to you  2600 radio shootcast for your xbmc and pc .

THe link on STREAMPACK or Here

Good listen all and peace

Thanks for your reply !

Now we're getting somewhere :D I just transfered your pack to my xbox and it works. Allthough many links are dead though.

Now i only have to figure out how to make the kml script work. I downloaded the KML browser file from http://dwl.xboxmediacenter.de/ and transfered it to my XBMC folder.

When i run the script i get the shoutcast looking interface (Webradio2), but i'm missing the texts in it? At the first page i see 2 buttons. When i select one of them i go to a page with much more buttons, but they are all blank.
Anyone knows what causes this?

Thanx toholassud for the pack!

Cheers,
AC

I just found out .sc files are no longer supported by xbmc.

Also i found a topic that descibes the webradio 2 script > HERE <

Other people seem to have the same problem like me, not showing any text. But i couldn't find an answer on this problem.

Anyone knows how to fix this?

Thanx in advance,
AC

Hi,

For use KML , you just put the files of this package on your script root directory.
(read the README, the reponse to your question is here)

STREAMPACK.

Ecrase old file by them , and enjoy webradio ^^ .

It's very easy  :jester:, but i prefer my pack ;p ..
