hmm try it in scart mode (all switches on) and use pin 23 for the input instead of pin 22 on the csync circuit

i tried a different approach to this.

i wired the screen to a female scart adaptor so i could plug any video source into it.

i have an RGB scart cable on both my xbox and ps2 and both consoles work perfectly on the screen.

all i had to do was solder a capacitor into the circuit to stabilise the screen.

Let me be more specific. I mean if i used the composit signal coming from the green 1/8 jack, does it disable any other signal that come from the psone A/V connector? If so, is there a way to get sound and composite video at the same time?

Yes you could use a KA317 set to 7.5v. Afaik thats all the cheap car adapters are with pre-sets on a switch.

Where would I go about getting one of these? And how would I hook it up? I have the car power adapter... but it looks like it was worked on by a monkey with a butane torch... burnt solder areas, resistors half ass soldered on... quite possibly stuff missing...

so I'm looking for another way to do this...

Ok, I found one from here as referenced in this huge forum thread here with a schematic. I broke down and bought a car adapter, but this is probably pretty easy and saves space.

I have read so much about this mod, and the different ways to do it, my head is spinning.  sad.gif  smile.gif

UPDATE: I bought an original Sony adapter, but while it looks simpler, it does look big. sad.gif The shipping on this KA317T looks high also ($10 overseas from Aus). I may try both in the end.

There is also lots of chatter about powerstrip timing and composite synch issues in that PC modder forum. I hoped to do VGA on my box to the psone screen, but I am getting nervous with the reports of custom timing requirements. Has anyone done it yet?

I just bought an AC adapter for it... I'm gonna run wires directly from the power plug's solder terminals to the AC adapter instead of fucking with building circuits and whatnot... maybe that will help fix the "fuzzy screen" i've been getting on it...

Now to figure out why it's making my TV's picture look like crap

So the VP at neiparts.com said he carries the National Semiconductor LM317 IC, which is equivalent to the KA317 samsung. BTW, I am not affiliated with the site in any way, but finding the parts took some time, so I thought I would share.  There are different flavors of LM317, and I have no idea what the differences are. This thread may not be the best place for me to share this info, but....

If this violates rules, I am sorry and mods feel free to edit. These parts seem tough to find though, so I took a chance people would value the general direction and I would not get banned. smile.gif

missed these replys..

xbfanboy Good post with the 317 and other info should help a few.

I finally tested the rgb scart (all switches on) mode, instead of using the green signal for the sync signal i used the composite signal and it worked perfect, but was a bit dark even on full brighness so the brightness mod probs helps here.
Still to try the VGA mode(switch 1 and 3 with vga bios) but that might have problems with timing etc. once i get a little more pr0 in linux i might see what VGA is like.

If anyone cares theres a tonne of info on the amazing forum of benheck.com about this screen and even pinouts and other connections.
