Jtaged A Falcon And Now E79 And 1033 Error
« on: March 07, 2010, 02:59:00 PM »

Please help, I am desperate.  Right now I have a e79 error and 1033 secondary error (1 rrod).  I have reflashed the nand multiple times.  Here is the situation:  It's a Falcon board with an exploitable kernal.  When I read the nand, I kept getting 1 bad block in the same address.  So I got xbr and used bad block remapper and remapped the bad block successfully.  I then injected the kv and config and then flashed (I also tried by flashing the xbr first, then injecting kv and config straight thru the lpt.)

I re-read the nand to make sure the flash was good and it was identical.  But when I turn in on I get e79 with a secondary code of 1033.  I checked all the jtag wires and they are good.  Two switching diodes attached to the board and then a 0.25 watt resistor on the 3rd jtag wire (needed it or xbox won't boot.)

Any ideas what I can do?  I have tried unplugging the fans and let it 2 rrod on me because I read that 1033 can be a cpu/gpu problem.  But the xbox was working before I did the jtag.  Any idea what the problem could be?  Thanks.

Try flashing back to stock and see if it works, has it ever booted XBR before? Also, try flashing a fresh image of XBR without remapping the bad blocks and injecting the kv/config just to see what happens. Make sure your diodes are turned the right way first

you shouldn't intentionally overheat your xbox.

E79 = bad Jtag wires. Please go back and check ur soldering on db1f1, make sure diodes are right way round etc. The other option is to flash back orig nand, see if it boots.

Original image will not boot with correct JTAG in place, so I believe.

Ok, here is what I've done.  No, XBR has never booted.  I have tried flashing XBR with and without remapping bad blocks, same thing, e79 and 1033 error.  Checked diodes, both have the black line facing the motherboard.  I also tried flashing the orig nand back, same thing, e79 and 1033 error.  Checked out db1f1 (the diode is soldered directly to that point) and it looks solid.  The other jtag wire (I soldered on the bottom of the board so that I didn't have to run a wire to the RF board) also looks good.  3rd jtag looks fine with 0.25 watt resistor on it.

I am worried about taking jtag wires off, especially the db1f1.  I know it pulls off easily and I have it on there good now.  Any other suggestions?

What secondary error code did you have?  I wonder if the 1033 error code that I have has something to do with it.  I have read that it can be a cpu/gpu cold solder problem, but I don't know for sure.  There has got to be something that can be done.

Did you try it with just a jumper wire instead of the resistor? i'm not sure what you mean when you say it wouldn't boot without the resistor. You should triple check your diodes and take a good hard look at the diagram again to make sure your diodes aren't backwards.

supersdude, when I took the resistor off and tried to turn the xbox on, the middle small green light came on, but that was it, would not boot.  When I put the resistor back, on, it then booted (to e79 and 1033 error) but at least it booted.  Last night, I checked my diodes again and they are correct, the black line is towards the motherboard.  What about a bigger resistor, like a 330 ohm one, think that would get rid of the e79 and 1033 error?

I hope you never soldered a diode leg directly to that point. What you need to do is get some fine wire , strip the end and lay it flat over db1f1, then make it stick with a wee touch of solder. solder the diode to the other end of the wire. Once it boots then you can hot-glue it down in place. Can you take a photo of ur JTAGS for me?

Deffo check db1f1, get a magnifying glass if you have to

I tried it both ways with the diode. I originally had a wire soldered to the alt. Db1f1 pt (on bottom of board)and got the same e79 error. I then soldered the diode directly to the db1f1 pt on the top of the board. Still getting e79 and 1033 error.

As suggested, you're gonna need to work backwards.

Take away your JTAG wiring for now and see if you can get it working back to stock.

What did degraded make of your original NAND dump? Are you using LPT or USB?

If LPT, how long is your cable?

I am gonna post some pics of my jtag wiring ASAP.  I am using LPT and the cable is about 10" or 11".  Degraded said that the CB was exploitable.  I have flashed the nand and re-read it and it's identical.  I am worried about removing the diode from the DB1F1 pt as I know its a difficult pt to do.  Would the diode being soldered directly to the DB1F1 pt be the problem?
