Vt-6421 Help
« on: December 12, 2009, 04:33:00 AM »

I just got my VT-6421 Sata PCI card because I thought I'd try flashing my drive for a change(instead of getting someone else to). I installed it into my computer and whenever I try booting my PC with the card inside, I get either a black screen with a flashing "_" or it says a few things at the top and gets stuck at "Detecting...". Can anyone help me out? I've tried switching PCI slots and it hasn't helped.

Did you disable your RAID, and remove the VIA drivers?

Raid isn't enabled and I don't even get to install/disable drivers as the computer won't boot at all with the pci card in.

You're not trying to boot from the card are you? Because the 6421 chipset doesn't support that.

Also when i boot with the 360 disk drive already attached, my computer does this as well. So don't hook it up till after it gets past the cards bootloader.

If you have a pci sound card and video off of pci, it could be a IRQ problem and you may need to disable sound and if possible go to onboard video.

a few thoughts.
