Can Dvd Label Stickers Cause Dirty Disc Error?
« on: October 10, 2009, 10:22:00 AM »

i made a backup of my fifa 10 and stuck an expressit dvd label sticker on the disc to make it look decent.

the backup i made would only run for 5 mins and i would get the dirty disc error. i binned the disc and made another backup of the game. i placed it in the xbox 360, with no sticker, for  about 10 hours to test the game. i let the computer play against each other for hours. everything seemed to run ok.

the next day i placed a dvd label sticker on the disc and went to play the game again. i got the dirty disc error after 15 mins. i restarted the game again and left it playing, computer vs computer, for a few hours and it seemed fine.

has anyone else had an experience like this? do you think i should adjust the laser pot?

maybe the laser is just on its last legs. if so, would i be better off replacing the whole drive or just the laser?

the drive is a hitachi 46 spoofed to report as a samsung ms28

the manufacture date of the xbox that the hitachi drive came from is 2005-10-2.

Yes it can because the the sticker will cause the disc to be unbalanced and vibrate/wobble when it spins. CDfreak forum tested discs with sticker labels and they have more errors compare to ones without it.

You could also damage your drive.
