thats a lot of questions mate!

to rip games you need a KREON drive (google this and look for KREON on ebay), or you can take out the 360 drive and hook it up to your pc.

to burn them you need a dual layer DVD burner, a program called IMGburn and Verbatim dual layer DVDs

to patch, check and verify backups you need a tool called ABGX. current version is 1.0

to play backups you need modified firmware on your xbox 360 dvd drive. latest firmware is ixtreme 1.51

if you want to go on xbox live and be absolutely sure that you dont get banned, DONT MODIFY YOUR CONSOLE IN ANY WAY!

a good place to start is search for how to find out which make of DVD drive is in your 360.

you need to just READ READ READ READ before you do anything. takes ages to learn about all the various methods and programs

Can you link me to finding out which make my drive is? Or is it obvious? I'm sure I can find the softwar to all the other stuff.

EDIT: I should add that I'll probally not have to get my own backups, as a friend has the backup kreon thingo. So all I think I need to do is "flash" my drive and patch, then burn my games on DL (hitatchi)

Hey, I found this tutorial on applying my iXtreme 1.51 firmware but it is based around old firmware and the thread itself is very old. Can someone tell me if I can still folow these steps with the new firmware?

EDIT: Forget that, the tutorial is so old the downloads arn't available.
EDIT2: I geuss I'll just buy a sata cable tomorrow and use the jungle flasher tut.
EDIT3: My sata plug on my motherboard says Sata-II, is this ok and will it connect?

Can anyone help out? I've got my xbox opened up fully but I'm not entirely sure which turn to take now... Do I leave it in the xbox with the power cord still in? Then do I go out and buy a sata cable that can reach from the xbox to the computer? Also my last question still stands - My sata ports have a lable on them saying sata-II, can I still connect it to my xbox with a normal sata cable?

Really sorry for the triple post but bumping this topic is the only way I think I'll get a reply in the newbie forums. My gigabyte motherboard says 'Features NVIDIA® SATA 3Gb/s with RAID function' so will that work or do I still have to go buy a VIA card?

Whats the model name of your motherboard? Did you click the link Bazdoctor gave you? We can't do that for you. It links to a pdf that will walk you through step by step. As for your SATA ports, they are fine, you don't need a VIA card. Just follow the Jungleflasher tutorial. Thanks, and I did already have jungle flasher, but the tutorial didn't show me wether or not I could connect it. Thanks for that info... money is tight in my house and not something you want to waste. You guys have a pretty good community here.
