Lite-on More Secure?
« on: March 15, 2009, 04:08:00 AM »

just bought a new arcade with lite-on and im reading up before flashing. looks like i have 2 options:

1. get key from lite-on and spoof my samsung ms28 (which worked great til console rrod'd)
2. flash the lite-on

i have heard lots of praise for the lite-on, and some people saying that its more secure than the other drives. is there a technical reason for it being more 'secure'? i thought the main security risk was bad backups rather than the drives themselves.

i currently dont take backups on xbl, but now theres abgx to check them and i'm now very careful since past mistakes, i am kinda tempted  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy.gif)

you don't have to spoof it. You can flash it with out a problem.  Either solder the points buy a ck3 or something similar, or build a spear to get the key. As for not going online with your back ups it dont matter if your online or offline. Either way you can get banned playing retail/back up.

If you want to use your Samsung you will need to spoof it with the Liteon data. Spoofing can be more risky than just flashing the Liteon. The risk is very minimal.

Since the Liteon drive is by far the best drive out to play backups your best bet is to simply flash your liteon. The hardest part is getting the drive key. Since you will need to get this info anyway to spoof your Samsung you may as well just go ahead and flash your Liteon instead.

thanks very much guys. i know how to get the key and spoof and all of that. i just want to know if theres something different about the way the lite-on handles backups. i understand that it reads them better, maybe less fussy about them being different to original disks, but does this really mean anything as far as being secure on XBL?
