Hi

'chipping' it will make no difference, you will NEED to get the dvd key off that drive. What drive is in your nephews xbox?

so your nephews drive is a samsung? if so why are you trying to get it into modeB? thats for hitachis only. try iprep with the samsung drive to see if it will read the firmware of the drive.

Hi,

use iprep to read the firmware of the samsung drive, it will create a file on your memory stick called sam-orig.bin( or summit like that ) then open up that file in firmware toolbox in windows, it will then show you your dvd key, insert that into you hitachi firmware, spoof as a sammy and flash the hitachi.
done.

Right, your running the windows iprep setup, download the samsung ixtreme firmware and extract it to your PC. then open you iprep and in the samsung ixtreme box select the locaation of the extracted file. then down the bottom select prepare destination.

Then when finished boot of the memory stick and follow the insrtuctions on screen to dump the samsung firmware, then open it up in firmware tool box and get your key.

you need to update the ixdef.xml, get it from iprep 008 or use 008

Ok backed the samsung drive up and made a copy once i figure how iprep worked it alot easier now i figure i gotta back up the hitachi drive with iprep but i only see samsung and benq and lite on  im going to try a older copy to see if i can get it also do i need to put the drive in mode b for the hitachi

Thanks all that help me i figure everything out took me 2 hrs but that because i was using the wrong slax cd i didnt know u need a speical one lol but once i got done i figure it out in seconds
