Streaming Digital Tv
« on: October 01, 2004, 10:31:00 PM »

Hi.

I was wondering if I went out and bought a High Definition digital TV card for my computer and set it up properly, could I stream it to my Xbox? Also would I be able to change channels and view the TV guide and stuff like that?

Also would I be able to stream the digital tv to my dads xbox as well, like both of us viewing different channels at the same time...

I have a Hauppage card in my PC, which has a "pause mode".  The pause file is accessible by XBMC, via Samba, so it does stream almost live TV to the Xbox this way.

The Hauppage card only supports recording one channel at a time, so live TV cannot stream different channels to different Xboxes with such a setup.  However, once programs are recorded (on the PC HD) different Xboxes should be able to access them via the LAN.  <

Short answer, just a card on its own, no.  If you have mythtv on it, and control the card that way, then setup your XBox as a frontend, yes.   <
