Wire Theory (benq Vs Lite-on)
« on: September 05, 2008, 05:47:00 PM »

I was hoping someone with experience flashing 360's over the past 4-5 months could provide some insight into the theory of white wires versus yellow wires.

My 360 recently kicked the bucket (RRoD) again and it doesn't appear the x-clamp fix is going to be able to bail me out for a 4th tiem. I've purchased a new 360 and removed the face plate to expose the hole under the drive. There's currently 2 white wires.

From the posts I've seen, this indicates this is likely a BenQ drive. Is the theory sound or bunk?

Thanks,
-LU

White wires indicates BenQ. What is the manufacture date on the back of the console? If it was made after April this year it should be LiteOn.

Manufacturing date is 2008-06-10 (so it's after April).

From what I've seen, it's very likely you'll get a lite-on post April although the fact this has white wires raises my question on the white vs. yellow theory.

I agree. You may have to take it apart to truly find out.

I'll likely open it up this weekend for confirmation. I'll post my findings back on thread.

I lucked out. Check this out

Man Date 2008-11-07

HDMI

Has the lower Power consumption 12vdc 14.28 5v 1 a

Has the paper type seal rather than the plastic sticker type.

This thing actually had a BENQ drive in it.

From the dvd drive report site this is a very rare thing.

Oh and by the way. It does have the two white wires in the front.

Maybe a refurb in disguise yeah lol. I bought it brand new sealed at best buy but that means nothing. There was a huge stack of 360 pro bundles with the 60GB and the indiana jones and kung fu panda. I bet i picked out the only one considering the chances. Anyways, I was phsyced.
