Hey Mate,

Ok i tried doing the same thing as you last night, and i got it working. Took a little tinkering tho.

I will give you the steps i went thru and got it working.

For the recording im using Windows 2k and the PC and modem are connected thru netgear router.

I assume you are able to atleast ftp to your xbox when its in xbmc? If not then says so, cause we will have to sort that out first.

OK here goes.

1. I created a new user account on my PC called xbox
2. I shared up a folder and gave full permissions to the xbox user account
3. I ftp'ed into the xbox and  edited the  XboxMediaCenter.xml file.
4. I placed the following in the My Videos area of the above xml file
<bookmark>
<name>SMB Share</name>
<path>smb://xbox:[email protected]/movies</path>
</bookmark>
**Note: change xbox:xbox to what ever you choose for the new user accounts username and password and the IP address should be the IP address of your PC. And change "movies" to the name of the folder that you shared on your PC
5. I then uploaded the XML file back to the xbox updating/overwriting the original
6. Now thing that caught me out is i needed to close out of XBMC and start it up again to see the new shares. So make sure you do that.
It should work fine now.

Then when you go back into XMBC go to the My Videos menu and you should see something call "SMB Share" you can actually call it what ever you want, just edit the xml file as above.

Now the main thing is that you PC and XBOX both have IP addresses. You can check if xmbc is picking up the IP address by checking in system information or something (cant remember)

Hope this helps :-)
