Ok, i followed textbooks guide, used iprep to make a bootable usb drive and it detects my drive but when i select it, it just hangs. Any way to fix this?

The MS28 firmware has certain lockout routines and can not be normally flashed via MTKFlash like an MS25 can. There are a couple workarounds to get the drive flashed. The VCC switch method requires you to open up the drive, desolder a resistor, and use a switch or wires to read/write to the drive. The VIA / Bad Flash Recovery method does not require desoldering/soldering, but will only work with VIA brand SATA chipsets

It could have the MS28 protection on it, even though it's an MS25 badged drive. Do you know anyone who has a via 6421 card where they can check this for you?

I have a nforce chipset and had nothing but problems trying to get my MS25 to flash.  I bought a VIA card for $15 and couldn't believe I wasted like 3 days trying with the nforce.  For the expense save yourself the hassle.

VIA and nForce don't like each other.  I have an nForce 650 and I damn near bricked my drive when the flash just froze at 14% on the 1st bank and subsequent uses of the MTKFLASH refused to find the drive.  I then hooked my VIA card into my wife's computer (i865 Chipset) and BOOM, MTFLASH recognized the drive and immediately started flashing it.

Best solution: Put your VIA card in a non-nForce computer.

Well I didn't have THAT problem.  I put the VIA in my nforce system just fine.

Hardware conflicts like that are VERY system specific.  I dont think the OP will have a problem just buying a VIA card and using it in his system.

The reason I say that is because I was surprised about all the people that have had trouble flashing with an nForce motherboard from all the sites I checked when I was flipping out about me possibly bricking the drive.  I noticed the common denominator and put my card in my wife's computer.  It might have worked for you, but from the information I've been able to pull together off the net, you were one of the lucky ones.
