I've a mkv file that I am unable to play. I had a similiar problem last week but the latest build corrected it. The codecs probably need to be updated, if anyone knows what matroska filters have been recently added or are somewhat rare, drop a post.

Thought I read that XBMC doesn't support the MKV format..

It will play the audio portion of flic, but no video. <

I still have the 9-3CVS, but Matroska has been supported for a while, video and all. <

yeah it works fine here ..... maybe check your install (or update again) or maybe your mvk is corrupt. <

matroska....so thaaat's what they are. they work great for me. they're like perfect avi files with subtitle options. <
