Intermittent Backup Reading With Hitachi 47d
« on: October 15, 2007, 10:31:00 AM »

I have a Hitachi 47d that is flashed with the iXtreme firmware 1.0  It originally played backups fine, then for some unknown reason quit (can't think of anything that changed).  It still played originals fine, and on occasion would boot a backup. I decided to reflash my drive with the newest iXtreme 1.2 rev. c and viola backups started working again, for about a week and then out of nowhere same thing, now I get various errors, from 'Unplayable Disc' to 'Open Tray'.  I am going to reflash my drive again but I was curious as to whether or not anyone else has had this issue.  I am going to eventually adjust the POT or whatever but I would like to avoid doing that as I don't feel like burning my lens out.  Thanks in advance for any input.

I had a very simular problem, my xbox was about six months old.  Did the pot tweek trick and it worked for a little bit, but eventually had to order a new lazer from ebay and change it out.  It has been working ever since.  Give the pot tweek a try and if you continue to have the problem it is time to order a new laser.
