Xread Got To 33%, And Then Froze.
« on: May 15, 2007, 03:51:00 PM »

I am working with a MS28, and I am using my Syba PCI SATA Card.

I formatted a floppy disk with the XTREME BOOT MAKER, XTREME53.rar, and successfully reached DOS. I type in XREAD, got XTREME, then turned off my xbox360. I waited 10 seconds, turned it back on, and it read up to 33% and froze. I waited 5 minutes and nothing happened so I hit esc. Now i receive the message I have already made a backup for Serial #.

Should I go ahead and delete the backup that it made and proceed to do another xread?

There is no way to brick my drive at this point. Right?

Help!!

I am sitting here, waiting at the DOS command prompt. My AIM is "bmil cs" and email is "[email protected]". I'd greatly appreciate any support or help in this matter. I don't want to proceed without a proper backup!!

I really want to finish this. I have ordered numerous things to mod my xbox: floppy disk drive, floppy disks, pci card, dvd+r dl, etc.

Thanks guys.

Yes delete the current backup and redo it.

(The serial number means nothing.. it just creates its own folders... i.e. putting 111111 1111 as the serial would work fine)

Update: my friend advised me to use the mtkflash r /m /sata orig.bin

I successfully backed it up

Reading.... Finished! DataSum E369, 0PCSum    0

Should I go ahead and check it with SamTool? Textbook told me that it would automatically do that, however, it didn't. Can I manually check it?

I'd greatly appreciate the next few steps to insure that I don't mess up!

Yes check the firmware to make sure you have a valid key.. it looks like it went find and you should be safe to upgrade.

Firmware Toolbox works well for validating keys as well..
