10 Sec Trick Not Working For Me
« on: May 13, 2007, 12:28:00 AM »

I made a bootable floppy and removed all my drives....i used the old boot maker....the floppy boots....i type Samread ******* *****
  It says that directory already exists.
It will then say this
" IDE SCC Slave
Port 170, Master/Slave b0"

I power off at this point.....i select 1 and then start counting 10 secs.

I tried 3-20 seconds but none of then worked.

I am using the latest f/w   xtreme 53 and old bootmaker.

Plz tell me what i should do.

Thanks

It is not seeing the drive, it will show SATA or VIA or XTREME, you got just IDE so it is not seeing the drive.

On some computers I find the program does not see the drive the first time it is ran, so I do the following:
CODE

* Boot up the computer
* Wait for the DOS prompt
* Turn on the X360 drive
* Run the program (first time no drive shown)
* Leave the drive on
   - select 1 (IDE)
   - it hangs
   - press CTRL-C to abort
   - select Y to confirm
* Rerun the program (this time X360 drive is there)
* Turn the drive OFF
   - select 2 (XTREME/VIA/SATA)
   - it hangs
   - wait 10 seconds
* Turn the drive ON
* MTKFLASH starts the READ of all four banks.

You will then need to reboot and do the same steps during the flash write part.

!!! PLEASE NOTE: !!!
    *** YOU CAN ONLY DO THE 10 SECOND TRICK ON VIA CHIPSETS ***

if you are using the samhack command, u need to do samread first so it back ups your old firmware and edit the new firmware with you key. then use samhack to flash the drive

Does it say it's backed up an orig.bin before giving that error? If so I had the same issue, I just went back into Windows took the orig.bin off the floppy (saving it elsewhere as well) and made the firmware in windows.

i very much doubt it being due to the age of ur pc, the main thing is is that its is detecting ur drive

try using a usb flash drive rather then a floppy

try disconnecting all ur ide drive from ur pc so only ur 360 drive is plugged in

also could u tell us which drive ur trying to flash???

I think my xbox 360 drive is not detected by my pc.

I disconnected all my other drives(cr writer, cd rom, hdd) but the same result.

I am trying to flash a toshiba-samsung MS28 drive.

Here's the error that i get when i boot from floppy and type the commands.

I have made 2 floppies using both the old and the new bootmaker and tried both Samread and xread but got the same result as u can see in the above links.

the floppy boots fine but i get an error drive not detected like in the pic above posted.

I will still try to format and make more floppy and try to get it detected.

Have you tried turning your 360 on first, and then your computer?
Maybe it'll get detected that way.
