All your backups have to be remade to be compatible with teh Xbox 360.  They also all have to be burned on DUAL LAYER DVD's, to work on the 360.

Xbox 1 Originals should work.  But the games must be on the compatability list.

http://www.xbox.com/...tygameslist.htm

Dave Mirra 2 was just recently added.

Follow these instructions to install the newest backwards compatability update.

just to expand on what havok said, only Xtreme firmwares allow xbox 1 games to run on the 360 on a DVD5 (single layer), iXtreme requires them to be on DVD9. if you use LIVE though, Xtreme firmware is not recomended and either is DVD5 backups as they are easily detectable

I also have this exact same prob, they use to play fine on 1.4 but since I restored and then reflashed with 1.4 again, no joy. Did you manage to fix the prob at all?
Think I might reflash with 1.3 or something to see if that sorts it

Right, I restored back to original dvd stock firmware and tried a xbox 1 original but still get same Game could not start message.
Turned my attentions to the HDD, and sure enough when I used another hdd the original xbox 1 game worked. I got the hdd which doesn't play xbox 1 game's from hong kong, where did you get yours from chiper1?

Try clearing the hard drive cache..

To perform the function, access 'memory' in the system blade, and then highlight the hard drive. Now press: Y, X, X, LB, RB, X, X. The following message should appear: "Do you want to perform maintenance on your Xbox 360 storage devices?"

You will then need to connect to Live and place the original Xbox 1 disc in the system.

It should redownload the update.

The reason it works on one hard drive and not the other is because the software is installed on the HD.  one has it and one doesnt.

hi, followed your instructions to the hilt but same problem - normally you get the xbox 1 logo and the update guide appears, but with this hdd it doesn't even show the logo, the error appears almost straight away.
Have you tried it chiper1?

Did you try downloading the update from MS and burning to a CD and updating the system with that after clearing the cache?

Perhaps, but I updated using the BC disc from xbox.com as well as from xbox live. I also tried your theory in reverse by using a disc with the BC update from the HK xbox website with no luck, I think it uses the same BC download disc link as the uk site tho anyway.

Backwards Compatibility Question
« Reply #28 on: February 26, 2008, 02:14:00 PM »

Right, i've checked the working UK hdd and the HK hdd, in Xplorer360 - the uk hdd shows the partitions 0, 2 and 3 but the hk hdd doesn't show any stating the error message - can't find a fatx drive.
I've checked both hdd's in Xplorer360_extreme2 also - the uk hdd shows the partitons 0, 2 and 3 but this time the hk hdd shows partition 1.
I was thinking of dumping the uk hdd image and restoring it to the hk hdd, would this work?

Its worth a shot... might want to backup the HK drive so you can restore it.
