We would need to know which Xbox DVD Drive you have.

I am taking a wild stab that Dell uses Silicone Image SATA chipset... which means you would need to buy a PCI to SATA card or use aother computer...

I just checked and you are correect it is an ICH5 chipset... You can use the regular mtkflash and it should work fine.  You don't need to hexedit or anything.

Just follow the tutorials.. mtkflash r /m /sata backup.bin

If you have trouble getting the drive to detect try these two things..

1.  Update the motherboard bios to the newest version.

2.  Load optimized defaults.

For your chipset you should not have to do that... msinfo stuff.

As far as upgrading the bios.  Check dells site and put in your service tag number.  Should be able to download it there.  You can try without doing that step, but it if dosn't work, this is what I would try next.

Try both ports if you need too... it really doesn't matter.
