Okay, that rather was the noob guide, but glad you took the time to read it either way.

Tell you what, I don't know what she'll find on the streets of Beijing, but they might have Japan consoles. They most certainly have JPN ones in Honk Kong, but I don't know if you mom'll be heading there. The actual release date for HK (and Taiwan) region(s) 360s is March 16th:

- You will indeed have region issues as far as the quickie guide I wrote states. Games that have region coding (that are "locked" to a certain region) will only play on consoles from that region. Here's a list of some US titles that have
no region coding:
http://en.wikipedia...._Xbox_360_GamesI can NOT verify that, say, Call of Duty 2 will work on a HK console without actual proof. But, as that game, as sold in the US, has no region code it will play on any console.
- Google is your friend:
http://www.google.co...G=Google SearchYou'll need a step-up converter to use it in North America
- See my xbox.com link (above): Roughly the same, but a bit priced a bit less for the Asian markets. Bear in mind, if you get a JPN console you'll have to fork out for a component or S-video pack if you want something other than (gaud-awful) composite cables (or happen to have a TV with Japan-style D-jack inputs).
HK games, however, are priced a bit cheaper. Japan games.. are not.
Save your money; wait for a console from your home region.
