Getting Xbms To Work In Xbmc
« on: July 08, 2004, 08:20:00 PM »

hey guys I need some help getting this setup. I have been using XBMP for a long time and I used XBMS to serve files. I have also been using XBMC for a few months and just upgraded a week ago to the new one. I down loaded the newest XBMS and applied the XBMC patch then installed it.

It still works in XBMP but not XBMC. I have tried a few xml bookmarks

one is the same way as XBMP:
<name...blah blah blah
/@192.168.2.10:1400

And also with the path like this: xbms://192.168.2.10:1400

It just shows a blank "folder".

I know the server is working because it still works in XBMP.

Did I apply the patch right? What i did was unzip it into a folder, then applied the patch as root with this comand: patch server.c server-xbmc.diff. It gave me no errors so then I did make, make install.

And here I am asking for help.

Have you seen the new Workgroup (smb) addition? Sharing has never been easier, just set a file folder to share on windows xp and that's it. <

I tried it today using the xbms://192.168.2.10:1400 type ... It worked like a charm at first, but when I try to "click" the "My Videos" icon now, XBMC hangs. Which is kind of strange.

However, using the command seems to be correct, I mean, it worked ... <
