Help With Finding X-clamp Screws In Canada Plze Help
« on: April 08, 2008, 08:51:00 PM »

K i read a previous post with a canadian guy who couldnt find the screws for the x-clamp fix and my luck with this has been bad to and i need help as well. I copied down the drawer numbers for the washers and screws  wich were
"80x 10  Machine Screws  #138433
1#10 Flat Washers – Nylon        #139065
16 5mm  Washers – Metal      #138319"

I went to home depot and yes the drawer numbers are totally different for canada so i asked for help and the clerk found me the proper washers so i was real happy, next i went to find thermal paste and home depot does not sell that in canada so i skipped that part and then came the problems!

The home depot clerk told me that the U.S.A. has different mesurements then Canada , he said the states use metric hence the 80x10 machine screws , so i asked what the mesurement of the screws would be in our "canadian" mesurement and he said he had no clue and neither did anyone else there so i was SOL.

What he did tell me was we canadians use a mesurement system called "imperial" and i dont have a clue how to use this system or what machine screws to get in our mesurement so i left and came home and came here.

So my question is what size would these machine screws be here in canada and also if any canadians had any luck buying them here or any other parts they subtituded and the other question is "do i even need these screws or can i just use the actual x-box screws with the new washers i bought? if i can use the normal x-box screws please let me know thx

I got screws from both Home Depot, and Canadian Tire. They're both totally different, because the ones they specify in the guide are the ones from Canadian Tire, not Home Depot (the screw length/sizes are measured differently between the two stores). In any case, you need M5 washers and M5 screws (length around 15mm).

Each store has separate sections for imperial measurements and metric measurements, so ask for the screws measured in metric and then look for M5 screws and washers.

And for the record, the US uses the imperial system, not us. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

i always use M5 screws 16MM

works fine for me, and just get the matching rings. the will have te right thickness. The rings are only used the gain some space between the mobo en the metal case, i you think your rings are to thick you can also use paper ring instead of the nylon, this will compensate the difference in thickness. You should just give it a with the nylon. im you sure you will figure it out
