Can The "towel Trick" Cause More Damage?
« on: April 06, 2008, 04:37:00 PM »

My 360 just red ringed for the first time (launch unit), and I'm waiting for Xecuters fix to come out.  In the mean time, can doing the towel trick mess it up to the point where the Xecuter fix or other fixes won't work at all?

IMO the towel trick is a crazy idea - will do more harm than good - others will differ - good luck!

I'm going to do it once, once only... i figure it can't cause too much damage doing it once... considering some people did it 10 times and their 360s didn't explode

The fact that you know of someone who has done the "towel trick" 10 times should answer your question. The towel trick is retarded, end of discussion.

Do you realize what the towel trick is doing?

Don't do it, your going to over heat things that aren't meant to be overheated.

Just follow lawldogs tutorial on the X-Clamp replacement and save yourself the time and trouble.  If you can't follow the guide send it off to somebody else who won't brick your 360.

If you're going to do a towel trick and you plan on opening your system later on, unplug the fans, turn on your xbox for a few minutes... there you go, same result, no need to overheat everything else in the system.
