Xclamp And 3 Penny Fix, Now A New Error Code
« on: March 24, 2008, 11:24:00 PM »

my 360 first had a error code of 0102 after i did the mkIII fix it still wasnt working so i tried the 3 penny fix..3 pennys didnt seem to fit so i tried using only 2 pennies..now when i turn on my 360 i still have the rrod but now the error code is 0020, which is unknown but thought to be a heating issue according to the list of error codes..anyone know what the problem is?

also on a side note...if i get a new 360 now, can i swap the dvd drives to have my fw modded drive in the new 360(which ever the latest version in stores is now)?

Where did you put the actual pennys?

Know it sounds silly but i tried something silly on mine last night by wrapping up some coins and then putting them around the GPU to try make things as flat as possible because mine just keeps 3 red lighting practically all the time.   When i screwed the heatsink back in i was getting error 0020, and the fans whirring up like mad, 2 flashing lights.  Means its overheating apparantly but on this occasion it wasnt.  Decided to just take out the coins and leave it without and it started working fine again then, for how long i dont know :-(

I have a 3 light ROD and the 0022 code as well.  From what I've seen, it's either overheating (suggesting 2 lights) or a GPU error.  I have worked on that box for quite some time, trying everything imaginable, and nothing has resolved.  There is no video signal, and the 3 lights take 30-45 seconds to come up I believe.  Sounds like a reflow would be the only possible fix on that error.  If someone else has fixed a 3-light 0022, please let us know what was done.

there's a thread which suggests a homemade reflow might word ....

p.s. homemade reflow = baking x360 mobo in an electic oven at about 200c !!! check out the thread! I guess if you've got nothing to loose might as well give it a go !!!

i just had an xbox with error 0102. Tried penny fix went to 0022.

Then i did the x-clamp fix and it was working for the last few hours. I also put two 1 mm washers on the ram chips under the gpu.

I also did a 12 v fan mod and fan shroud mod.

It has been going strong for like 4 hours now.
