I have a hitachi with the NME v1.2. I originally adjusted the dvd pot to around 2.9 from 4.5 and the bugger worked for an entire year. I started having problems 2 weeks ago when playing a nme Mass Effect. 2 hours in it stalls. Then it will not play the game at all. nme Forza 2 same thing 2 hours in and it stalls and will not play anything. Then I try others and nothing. The thing sounds like its spinning and the laser is moving and then it stops. "Dirty Disc" I try to clean it, I get the same thing. Now I get Unplayable disc every time. I bought a new laser from Foundmy.com installed it and got the exact same results. Now it does not read Originals, burned, movies, audio cd. Nothing. Any ideas? I bought Rock Band and Guitar Hero 3 2 weeks ago and Have yet 2 play them because the discs do not work. $280 i thought well spent except I have to borrow my brothers 360 to play them. LAME.
Any ideas would be a great help.
