there should be no consoles outside of warranty, unless you opened you xbox360 for no particular reason (other then to pirate games or case modifications)

I'm sure I'm not alone in finding this post offensive. Many people who are sick to the back teeth of discs getting scratched and make backups of their expensive originals do this to protect their investment. Sure, you can argue that some do as you've implied, but don't tar everyone with the same brush.

If someone has decided to open their console, it doesn't make them an automatic criminal. There is no law against doing so. Therefore if someone has forfeitted their warranty, a retail solution to fix the problem would be welcomed by many. I have no idea what TX have under their belt and like others just hope it's not a damp squib.

So, if this is nothing but an ad, why is it front page worthy?  tongue.gif

Some interesting replies here. I do like executors comment though, made me lol
I can see how it could be viewed as a rather quick turnaround given that they got there first RROD xbox at xmas but i think untill we actually see the product we can't really assume anything.

I am not a big fan of xecuter but this is how i see it.

they have probably invested some serious time into this and have come up with a simple enough fix that anyone can do it without the need for specific tools, they probably have tested it well, but they also know that the rod can ba caused by many things, some of which their fix wont cure. The rod is old but very common, i would guess they have seen big $ in this area and have been working quite hard to milk it.

now they could claim this to be a well thought out product, but when it does not fix everybody console (and it wont) then they would be left with egg on their face, so its much easier to try to sound cool and say "hey we just knocked this up coz we is uber leet" that way if it works they can look even cooler to thier fanboys, and if it doesnt go as well then they wont loose face.

I don't think anyone has said this so I'm going to, sorry if someone already said it above and I missed it.
RRoD or 3RoD issues are gone, there should be no consoles outside of warranty, unless you opened you xbox360 for no particular reason (other then to pirate games or case modifications, which for the latter if you were smart you redid the cooling system too, anyone opening the case to pirate games deserves everything they get).  The 360 launched end of 2005 that means all those consoles are still under warranty until the end of this year?
Had this kit came before Moore did the whole sorry here's 3 years of warranty and quit I'd be interested.
But anyone who purposely opened their xbox360 without first getting 3RoD probably put better cooling in the case so has side stepped the issue in any case.

congrats!  Lamest post in the thread... it was semi-interesting reading until I got to yours...

think ill stick to warranty or selling your box as used parts to buy a new one if your out of the RROD warranty.

Still it's kinda fun to buy broken things for chips and fix them.

I would like a second machine to make backups but I don't wanna buy a used 360 that is totally unusable.

at least they are honest with point #2 - This is not a permanent fix.

basically the bottom line is if you get the RROD problem and are out of the warranty (or have violated your original warranty) then this option is a cheap attempt at fixing your 360.  otherwise, a new "arcade" version may be just what you need.

i expect this product to be a quality product and time will tell how good of a fix this is but at least they are quite honest with the product's expectations...

For an answer to that you'd have to ask the poster of the news.

Well I for one am looking forward to more details on this fix, I welcome anything that may reduce my likely hood of having to make a donation to M$ already having given them £300, for what is essentually a poor quality product.
I'm one of those folks(I'm sure there's plenty of us out there) who's 360 RRoD'd after the years warranty was up, but before M$ introduced the 3 year extension, I was left with nothing other than a £300 brick, I had no alternative except to try some of the DIY fixes on the net, I only opened my console cos it was over a year old and no longer covered by warranty, I opened it to find cooked capacitors all over the board, which I replaced, and after performing the X-Clamp fix the console ran fine for a few weeks, now I have to fool with it on an almost weekly basis to keep it running, but because I was forced to do this M$ won't sort it for me under the new warranty.
As much as I like the console and some of the games, I just feel reluctant to blow another £200 on an arcade, something out there has to come close to a permenant fix.
So when people come out with crap like "if you opened it you deserve all you get" it really riles me, would they sit have sat there with a £300 console that was only fit to be used as a door stop?
That's why I think we should all stop hammering Team Xecuter and just wait to see what they've come up with, anything that might provide some kind of answer for folks in my situation is surely worth giving a chance?

Personally, I would just go do something really stupid and get a 30 day suspension from the boards.  If MS care so little about the customer then let them deal with your old faulty hardware.  Yeh its fine to extend the warranty for the peeps that have bought them recently but for your situation above where it died before they announced the extended 3yr warranty and you attempted your own repair job then I think that isnt unreasonable considering at the time it was out of its initial 12mth warranty.  Its a decent unit as long as you can get a Falcon one and the games catalogue is getting better but MS should have done a recall when they found out the inherent problems with its design which should not have passed QA/Testing. At the end of the day that would have been the decent thing to do !!

Any more posts seen of people committing, condoning or even hinting about pulling off any type of warranty fraud will loose their accounts here.
