I've fixed quite a few RRoD consoles with the x-clamp removal method; had 2 come back, and they were fixed after heatsinking the ram (additionally). One came back that had a problem with the ANA scaler, but a reflow fixed that problem.

i got two boxes that i fixed with the xclamp fix. one like three months  ago and it still works (and hope it stays that way) another i fixed like 10months  ago and still works.

my first one didnt work at first but after messing around with it for a bit i somehow got it to work. dont know exactly what i did but its working. but i did notice after several months of use that this one (the nine month old) requires you to boot it twice. the first time it doesnt boot but if you turn it off and back on it boots no problems and works just fine. i dont know why it does this or what error code it gives me (to lazy to check since it works with second boot) but i get no red lights on the console, just a blank screen.

well i am just hoping that it doesnt go out. but if it does i have a second one (back up) and also i have one more coming to me.

Just when you thought team-xecuter couldnt get any lamer....

As said before the kit will prolly include the 2 torx screwdrivers + 8 screws, 16 metal washers, 16 fibre washers some thermal paste & maybe include some ram heatsinks that cost buttons at any PC store.

Or maybe they will include a clove of garlic, a sprig of belladonna & some secret sanscrit incantation to banish those pesky red light gremlins.

Just imagine the poor customers who beleive this will fix error 1030 or any other obscure secondary error codes.

If this is the best a "team" can come up with to save their reputation i can just see them sat round the table in the think tank wearing bibs & protective headgear.

GO Team-Retard!!!!

EDIT** The x-clamp fix also works for me, umpteen done & no complaints yet. Been doing em since lawdawg released his tutorial. My own has been going strong since then.

I agree, it does look like another crappy product.  sad.gif More details about what's in the package would be interesting to make a fairer assement. I used to love Xecuter stuff but so far the 360 kit has seemed luke warm. Infectus seem to be responding faster to the scenes needs atm IMO.

I would have also thought they would have been more specific about which errors this kit will fix, ROD is a very general term.

As a computer tech who knows what causes the RROD, I know there is no cheap solution for repair.

This entire topic is BULLSHIT. There is no way to solve RROD without replacing the motherboard.

Anyway, I got my first 360 ROD brick over Christmas so instead of sending it back to M$ I took it apart to fix. I have come up with a very simple, very cheap and very effective quick-fix solution to most ROD problem machines. I have so far tested the method on 18 Xbox's and every one is still up and running (much to my surprise I might add - the older versions of this console are junk). It's Chinese New Year at the moment so as soon as we are all done i will get it packaged up and shipped out to the usual stockists. Hopefully it can work for you

They tested 18 boxes since christmas.... Now thats plenty of xbox's but hardly any time to give them a proper test. Where the machines even used after being fixed.
I thought mine was fixed until a good month of solid playing resulted in the red lights appearead again.
2 months is not enough time to work on a fix. I bet people will find they will continue to fail if they actually use there 360.

But i guess knowing xecuter they will take 1 year to release this so they just might be able to fine tune it by the end of the year for the release.

(Brings back memories of the 360Blaster - they said they tested it on hundreds on boxes but later had to supply a hitachi fix).

Johnwinger:
There is another fix besides replacing the mobo, the one that M$ wants you to take: buy another machine.

You know, all they would really have had to do to completely prevent the GPU (and other BGA) issues in the first place was to not plain BGA mount them but to use a known heat profile substrate in between the chips and the board. Would have strengthened the mount point (so board flex wouldn't have been such an issue), given known heat characteristics and provided a fairly low cost implementation (vs. profiling the entire substrate properly), and wouldn't have raised the GPU heatsink one bit.

kero:
the thing that strikes me funny about that whole thing is, "got my FIRST ROD at Christmas" followed immediately by "it's been tested on 18 now" - that's a pretty big leap in ROD consoles available to a guy in less than 2 months (and definitely not enough to say it is any sort of a viable long term fix, which they don't.)

I tried everything to fix my flashed 360 when it went RROD.  Nothing worked so I took a chance and registered for the warranty on xbox.com.  About a week later I got the coffin, and about two weeks after that, a replacement 360 arrived.

I had broken the Microsoft seal, taken the thing completely apart, wanged around all over the inside, tampered with the firmware, and they still replaced it.  I don't believe they even check the things anymore.  Just ship a repaired one out and send the broken one to Mexico for repair.  Take a chance, the worst that can happen is you'll have to pay return shipping.

Good luck!

I guess only time will tell if this is a scam or actually works!

Judging from Team Xecuter's history of decent products, I really wanna belive this is actually going to work.

From the TX site:
QUOTE

UPDATE

Having working out the cost of this kit we can make it much cheaper.

1 Kit $9.95 each
10 Kits $8.95 each
50 Kits $6.95 each
100 Kits $5.95 each

Also some points need addressing.

1. This is not any kind of X-Clamp or washers or screws or thermal paste or anything like that. It's not rocket science and didn't take months of development - more like 10 minutes
2. This is not sold as a permanent fix. You want that then get a new Xbox. All I know is that its simple, easy to do with little fuss and works on the boxes I've tested so far. It's impossible to say how long it will last for - only people actually giving it a try will be able to answer that.
3. Yes you could probably make this kit yourself. All I have done is made the kit to an exact spec in an easy to use and cheap package.

I'll get these shipped out asap then you can try for yourselves.

It wouldn't be a bad deal if it came with a proper opening kit, so you can easily get the back off.  I know recently when I fixed my RoD, I ended up having to get a T8 off ebay.  Then it was just like a allen key, but with a T8 end.  Then you could just buy the stuff yourself in future.  I've x-clamped 2 xbox 360s now, and both are still working.  Though they have only been going just over a month.  You can't blame Xecuter for cashing in on the RoD fixes.  If people never opened the 360s in the first place to mod them, they would still have the warranty sticker intact and be able to send it back to M$.
