Error 0102 After X-clamp And Heat Gun
« on: February 08, 2008, 03:20:00 PM »

I picked up a console with error 0102. The system had never been opened. I cleaned the chips, did the heat gun around the ram, cpu, gpu and southbridge, then did the x-clamp fix but i'm still getting error 0102? Is there anything else I could try, anyone run into this issue and not been able to fix it??

Thanks all.

do what I did I had the 3rod yesterday and also had the error code 0102 what I did was go to home depot and buy some #8 washers cost about a buck then some thermal paste you already have that so skip it then put the washers where the x-clamps are and remove those paper thin ones if it has them put the x-clamp back on and connect everything except do not put the screws on just leave them off for now.. so if all goes good you turn it on and will still have the lights of death so what you do now is turn off the console and turn it back on but this time remove connector for the fans so it can overheat don't worry nothing bad will happen.. so it will be flashing the 3 lights still for about 8 to 10 minutes and then it will go to the 2 lights that means its overheating so now you can go and unplug it from the back.. Now wait for about 20 to 30 minutes and turn it on and you should have a working rrod free 360 good luck PM me if you need more info

Error 0102 After X-clamp And Heat Gun

I understand what you mean and that works usually. But I use a heat gun now and that does the same job if not better. (reflow the solder points) i'll try and let the xbox over heat itself tonight.

Basically these 0102 errors can DEFINITELY be fixed right? Has ANYONE NOT been able to fix these? Again, i've fixed several xbox360's with this same error with a heat gun and x-clamp replacement. I just don't get it !!

yeah error codes 0102 usually can be fixed with all available methods out there since they seem to have something to do with the gpu although some are more picky than others. like I said i have the same error on mine and thats what I did to get it to work although if you want to not worry about it later on I would just remove the x clamps all together I did that last night and so far no problems. But if you prefer the heat gun method then you can go ahead and try that

well first off check your codes first do that by pressing the connect button below the controller slot and see what codes you get if its 0102 then you can try and clean the heatsinks and re apply the thermal compound and overheat the 360 to re solder the connection that may have broken up

My method has been great to me. I fixed a whole handful of these with my heat gun, some thermal compound and replacing the x-clamps. (lawdogs method).

But mine is STILL showing 0102.!?!?
