Hello all,

My friend recently had a problem with his 360. Whenever he goes to insert and play Call of Duty 4 his xbox goes to a white screen and says "Please insert this disk into an xbox 360 console" in english and in many other languages. Is there possibly a way to fix this without having to send it in to MS or is that the only way this can be fixed?

has he recently tried flashing his dvd drive?

Nope he just hasn't used it for a few months. When he inserts the disk he gets "Play DVD" instead of "Play Game", then the error "Please insert this disk into an xbox 360 console" comes up. I came up with some things to try to do to fix it:

-Play a DVD to try to get it to recognize the two different formats.
-Use a Laser Lens Cleaning Disk.
-Try playing without the HDD (heard rumors this fixes it).

Would any of those above possibly fix it? Or would it be better to buy a new DVD Drive and flash the firmware and key onto the new one? Or just to send it into MS?

I have the exact same issue but I got mine modded with a NME v2 chip and it gives me that same error and problem anyone know the solution?

There can be two reasons for that wrong DVD-Key or bad laser, make sure that you flashed the right key to it.
If it is not that the reason will be a bad laser, the fix for that is -> Moda's pot calibration tutorial...

Yup, Wilhelm_I is right! I bought a 360 off ebay with this same problem once. Tried 3 different lasers and no joy, but the thing is it would boot a game once every 30 tries, so that showed the key was correct (but maybe a bit corrupt).

I tried a different drive controller board and still the same thing! In the end it "got" 3RL and went back to M$. Came back with a new mobo and a BenQ drive.

I think the drive key on the mobo was kind of corrupt, but every 30 or so tries it managed to pair up correctly with the DVD drive.

Thats clearly warranty fraud get used to the thought of getting suspended/banned from here for this statement..
