How To Transfer Gamertag And Saves To The New Hdd?

I have Elite, and I wanna to transfer my gamer data to the new HDD. I don't want to order Transfer Kit from MS. Is there a way to do it?

you can do that easily without a memory card even...
go to your old HDD and delete your gamer tag from there in the settings!! then go put your New HDD and go to "recover my gamertag" and then write down the name of your gammer tag plus the requirements then your done!!
did many times with my new HDD

Where did you get this method? There is one bad thing: I will lose my saves.
