Ok, before posting I did my research and I have tried the following to remedy my DVD drive issues:
The "magnet fix"
The "take apart everything and let it sit overnight" thing
The "pot tweak" thing (My DVD pot is current at like 3.2 ohms, advice courtesy of MODA's tutorial)
I have fixed the grinding noise I used to have; that was the magnet thing. However, now the darn drive will read only some things. Taking everything apart and letting it chill for a while made more games start working. Pot tweaking seemed to have no effect on which games work and which don't. Notables that work are Halo 3, GRAW, GH3, and DVD Movies. However, a majority of discs don't work bringing up the "unplayable disc" error and the laser barely tries to read them. Of these are Rock Band, GH2, COD2 (figured trying an old game would be good), BioShock, and others.
What the heck is wrong with this drive? And more importantly, why is it literally choosing which discs to read all the way and which to quit on?
