Replace Dvd Drive
« on: December 19, 2007, 02:08:00 PM »

Most times when i play Fifa08 on my xbox360 i get an disc error where it asks me to clean the disc. I luckily got gaming plan for my dvd, so i went to bestbuy and replaced it. But after a few weeks it's back again. I mean the disc is in a more than reasonable condition, i cleaned lenses with 2 different lens cleaners, same issue. it works a few games, and then bang! after reviewing some of the topics here i opened the disc drive and cleaned lens and mirror manually. same thing....
now, i ordered a new dvd drive, same model as the original one, st-h943 ms28. i am not interested in playing backup games nor pirated ones, but i would love to be able to play my Fifa08 without interruption. Is there a way to replace my dvd drive without hacking? would i still need the via sata card? is it the same process as in flashing the drive with extreme firmware?>
oh, btw, i have several other games(halo3, aceofcombats6, sonic, need for speed) with no issues, but the thing is i haven't played them long enough to see if i get the error.
Could this be an error caused by this certain game?

Thank you all in advance, Chris S. (Chicago)

Replace Dvd Drive

My comment was fine, 'swap the logic boards' if it needed any more clarification than that I'd have to do the work for him, plus carl_e has already swapped boards and no luck, then chris2277 hasn't even had at it his yet, so what you're clarifying isn't clear at all. A drive that only ejects via the dashboard (software, thru the SATA cable) and not the Eject button (hardware, pin 3 of the drive) is still a pretty useless drive.
