This is not the read error problem I have seen many others mention.
The drive reads the disks fine ONCE it finds them.
I have tried this on multiple disks both Xbox 360 games (Halo 3 & GOW) and also on older Xbox 1 games.
The problem is that when the drive tray closes, there is no activity either on the drive or the lights and the tray just reopens.
I close the tray again, same thing happens. Finally after three or four trys, the tray stays closed and the drive spins up.
The drive is completely quiet during the initial three trys and the disk comes back out aligned exactly the way it went in so I am sure the drive is not spinning until the final try.
Once the drive recognizes the disk, the games play fine. I don't think it has failed once after the disk is detected.
I reseated the data cable between the board and laser and also checked the rails for dirt/buildup.
Anyone seen this problem before? Fixable? The drive is a TS-H943a.
