What About Xeno Top Gear?
« on: December 08, 2007, 10:37:00 AM »

Hello everyone, It's time for me to get either the Xeno Top Gear or the Blaster 360 device since I'm tired of dismantling the Xbox 360 all the time.

And I'm mostly in for the Xeno Top Gear device since it looks more stock, you don't need an external PSU, it has no ModeB switch which i don't need. I just need it simple without LEDs and all the happy stuff, I want my 360 to look boring smile.gif.

Oh well, what's holding me back is that I don't know if powering the DVD-drive through the Xbox 360 is such a  good idea. Because the 360 is grounded different than the computer, so you will need to ground them together. You don't need to do this if you power the DVD-drive and the PC on the same PSU, but I can't do that either since my Hitachi needs power constantly after it's in ModeB, and when I turn the PC off the DVD would also go down.

My question is as follows, is it safe to use the Xeno Top Gear without worrying that I will brick my drive? Since I've heard that electricity can travel through the SATA-cable and kill the drive anytime, but is a minor risk.
