1 Red Light E64 Error But I Dont Know If Its Been Modded Etc
« on: February 02, 2020, 07:17:00 PM »

Hi
I bought an xbox 360 from ebay thinking it had the 3 red light error but it has the e64 error and only 1 red light(bottom right)

After doing some research about the e64 error, I found that alot of guys get this error due to wrong firmware etc.

My original plan was to send it to ms and get them to fix it like my friends 3 red light error, but now I dont know what to do!?
The person I bought it from purchased his batch from a major retailer so he doesnt know if its been modded etc

please please help
thx

Wrong forum section.

M$ isn't gonna touch it if the warranty sticker has been tampered with and they'll end up charging you for any other repair if it's out of the 1 year warranty if it is still intact, 3 year is only for the 3RLOD issue. All you can do, if the sticker is intact and it hasn't been screwed with, is call them up and go thru the steps with them on the phone about the warranty.

To find out if you have warranty, remove your faceplate and where the ring of light is, you should see a microsoft seal that keep the top and bottom case together. If you cannot see any seal when you have removed the faceplate then it is a void console. Also i am sure that if the console was not opened, the person who sold it to you would send it to microsoft and have it fixed so they can still carry on using it. My suggestion is if you dont know how to repair consoles, you pretty much got ripped off because microsoft wont fix it for you unless you pay. I have purchased several consoles, repaired and sold them on.

the seal is there but it does look a bit ropey. The silver foil tape thingy on the drive is cut, so I presume its been opened.
my plan now is to take it to a professional and im hopin a reflash will work.

Raven- you think you can fix mine for a fee?

I think the problem with the console Is that someone tried to flash It and did a bad job resulting In the error!
The only Issue's I can fix are 2RLOD and 3RLOD. Since you have 1RLOD I'm not sure what would be the best solution. You will have to ask someone who has fixed this type of problem before. I am having a little trouble at the moment myself with fixing someone's console. All error's are gone but the fan was loud a few times when I switched the console on. I will inspect for a few days and see If any problems arise before I send It back. If you get a 2RLOD or 3RLOD send me a PM and I will let you know what I can do for a small fee.

@ rude1978 - Since the thing was most likely opened and, coming from eBay doesn't help matters any, had who knows what done to it, you're only real bet would be to have the drive looked at by someone to see if a key can be extracted from it, and even then it's no guarantee it's the right one, really depends on what was done to it, and you'll most likely never know what that actually was.

Take the 360 apart and remove the DVD drive and then turn it on, see if it works. If the drive is the only problem the 360 will start up and get to the dash just fine, but that only gets ya about 1/10th of the way there, if the key either is not on the drive or is the wrong one the best you'll get from it, even with a new DVD drive, will be a CD/DVD player, and since it's a right crappy DVD player it's pretty useless if that's the case. If the thing works fine with the drive removed, and you can get a key from the drive, and if that key is actually the one that's for that motherboard, then you'll be in pretty good shape, but if even a bit of the key is missing or not even there at all, then it's pretty much just good for parts.

PM me if ya remove the drive and the 360 works, I can remove the FW chip from the DVD drive and dump it to see if a key is there, and/or what the problem with the drive may be.
