X-clamp Replacement Kit

3 packs of washers and a pack of bolts came to £6.67 (1 up on satan, hehe).

I didn't bother with the nylon washers on the last one I did for someone, it worked fine, people only recommend them to save them from making any contact but there's nothing around that area on the motherboard that can make any contact as far as I could see.

Also you only need 1 washer on the underside of the motherboard too, I've no idea why people are suggesting to put 2 on the underside.

I guess if you can find nylon ones then go for it but it's definitely not necessary.

I would be interested to hear what people have been using to remove the old thermal paste though.

As far as arctic silver is concerned I always buy mine from either scan.co.uk, dabs.com or aria.co.uk.  I worked for PC world once, I refuse the fund their bullshit behaviour any longer wink.gif

I need help.  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)
I've just done the xclamp fix, turned it on to let it overheat and it was on the green light for about 5-10 seconds. Then went to the 3 red lights so i waited 20mins to let it go to the 2 red lights. But it wouldn't for some reason?  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif)  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/uhh.gif)

So i turned it off let it cool for 20 mins. Plugged the fans in and started it up and it went to the 3 red lights after a few seconds.  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Any idea's or things to try?

Thanks.

Thank you for your help.
I've adjusted the screws and still no luck. It goes green for a few seconds and then to 3 red lights.
I will drill holes in the bottom of the case see if that helps.

I am a Powerseller on Ebay UK but I do Worldwide shipping and sell kits to pro console fixing companys and personally fixed Xbox 360s. My kits come with paste too
Got rave reviews too its all about reliability not just a quick fix   wink.gif

Just check my 100% feedback.

In fact whenever you buy off ebay it's always best to check feedback, that tells you how good the product actually is, how good the postal times are and what sort of support you can expect when you buy the kit. So its all good  smile.gif

Don't buy a cheap thermal paste. Arctic 5 Silver is excellent as is the Antec thermal paste, It's a well known, quality brand name. Tests show there is not much difference between quality white thermal pastes and silver pastes like Arctic 5. However the same tests show that cheap non-branded thermal pastes are not very good at providing heat dissipation on contact with the GPU & CPU.
