360 Asking For Update Disc

w'son, I have a 360 asking for an update disc the after you switch it on. You cant get past this screen as it will ask for the disc, fail and give you no more options other then to power off. I have read about this problem and some people have burned an update disc off M$. I've tried this for both backwards/comp disc and dashboard but it wont read them, also tried another HD and nothing (also ask for the update without the HD).

Anyone have any ideas?

After much reading around the fourm I worked it out. A copy of crackdown placed in the drive when you power on with no HDD, haults for a while, then loads up crackdown and you can exit to dashboard. Powered off and plugged my HDD back in, back on and asked to update everything in site.

Further more the DVD drive was buggered and I replaced it with one out of my 3ROD'box. To work around the 'key' issue I just swapped the PCB around on the drives and it seams to be working fine now. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/love.gif)
