CPU Error. Try loosening the screws a bit, or maybe tighten them. Its just a game with the screws, when you find the correct pressure it will work. Just be patient.

You shouldn't have done the towel trick. My advice would be to go back in time, and never do the towel trick. Try loosening/tightening the screws on the GPU (probably too tight), you may want to also make sure you've done a proper repasting of the chips.

Artic Silver is well... Silver =P. The Towel method shouldn't ever be done, it was easier to unplug the fans with the console open and let it do the work (and even that is not recomended). Keep playing with the screws, If I were you I would loosen all screws a bit, see if that works, and keep tightening sightly from there.

thanks to everyone for the help! espically Relix, uve been reli helpful. im just wondering, could i use the white thermal compound? would it be ok? would the main reason its not working is because i have put too much thermal compound? i wud use arctic silver, but the problem is, i live in the middle East and theres no sort of Arctic Silver here sad.gif if i cant use the white paste, i wud probably order some online.

Check the error code and tell us!! The error code can change depending on how much did you tighten the screws. So, get the code and tell us =)

Yeah, mine does the same thing with an error code 0020.  I tried the penny trick first and that kind of worked but not really, and now I tried RBJtech x-clamp and I got the 3rrod first.  Then I got it to boot once and then it froze.  Now its green to 3rrod like you.

Guess I will have to play around with screw tightness.

If one screw is tighter than the others, the heat sink may not be making good contact with the CPU/GPU.

well guys, after soo much trouble, i did RBJTechs method of drilling.the screws went in, but now im getting a 0001 Error Code sad.gif ny ideas? i think this might actually work, as the xbox light didnt flash green like before and was green the whole way, unlike the other method where when the xbox went green, it would blink alot. any ideas to fix the 0001 Error? ive given it in to a local game technical shop but if they cant fix it, ny other things i cud try?
thanks alot guys

You shorted something.

0001 power supply problem

Try to see that no metal is touching the motherboard, no metal pieces, etc.
