Stock Harddrive No Longer Recognized
« on: October 28, 2007, 10:25:00 PM »

What can you do if the stock harddrive doesnt show up as a memory device and can't be read by the XBOX?  I would format it but it doesn't recognize that I have it attached.  As far as I can remember there has been nothing done that would jepordize the drive, no chips/flashing/mods other than Xclamp removal. edit: and taking power off of the fan header open slots for extra fans.

Thought I'd add another wrinkle.  The drive works fine in another 360, so its got to be something with the box, not the drive.  Also, I did unplug the fans for a few minutes and overheat the box to get the GPU to reseat itself, maybe a component dealing with the HDD was damaged?  Seriously, any bit of info anyone has on this is going to be helpful.

Maybe you accidentally broke something?    (IMG:style_emoticons/default/jester.gif)

The same thing happened to me except I did not unplug fans in an attempt to re-seat the solder balls. Any how I took the drive out and connected it to my pc to see if it was the drive and my pc recognized. So I put it back in the 360 and wham it worked. Just a thought!
