Well this has been going on for a little while but now it's gotten the best of me by doing it a lot with a certain game.... skate.

Whenever I pause the game or it gets to a loading screen, I can hear the laser moving and about a second later it makes this wierd grinding noise like my disc is getting scratched but luckily it's not. I had iXtreme flashed to my MS28 and reverted back to stock to see if it solves the problem but it still does it. It seems that any game that has a long or a lot of loading time triggers this noise. However it does this EVERYTIME I return to the dashboard.

Has anyone else experienced this problem and is there a fix available for it? I'm really not looking into replacing my drive since I already put enough money into this console with games & marketplace stuff and getting a replacement drive is expensive...

This is my 4th purchase of this console (last 3 ROD'ed on me before new warranty came in place) and my 5th purchase might be the PS3 (sorry!)

same thing here............i'm running xtreme 5.3 (which ever is the fast read) i think the read speed may be the prob...you guys running fast read FW?

I'm running the fast version again since slow gives me problems with loading a few games
