Question About X360 - 12v Cooler Mod.

My X360 had de 3ROD error. I managed to fix it with the X-Clamp MKIII mod. To avoid any future problem i've listen that i should try to cool it better and for this a lot of persons recommend the 12v cooler mod.

I was looking to my cooler and i noticed that in his specifications its i sad to be 12v by default, but it's only conected to the usual power plug. Do i still need to do the mod and conect him in a 12v source or not ? If i need, what is the best method, ive heard that it is possible to conect it on the dvd power source, can someone give me the link to the tutorial for this.
