QUOTE(troublemaker400 @ Nov 14 2007, 06:59 PM) *

Well I got mine back from xbox360pros today.  It works, but the lights on the front of it are now out and do not work.  I'm sending it back to them since I can't open it without voiding thier warranty.  I can understand this...stuff happens and they're willing to fix it.

The thing that irritates me the most is that they done the 12v mod without even so much as letting me know that they were going to do it and now my xbox sounds like a jet engine in my living room.  Had I known this up front I would have sent it somewhere else or not sent it in at all, and just got an arcade system.

I called and talked to them about the lights not working and basically I expressed my concerns about the fans being on 100% blastoff all the time and I was told that the only way they will warranty thier repair is if that's done.  I'm pretty upset about this because really I don't even want to play it if it's going to be that loud.  I work in a factory all day and when I come home I don't want to have to listen to that.

I would recommend not using xbox360-pros.com unless you want a really loud xbox.

Luke

I'll post back up if they are willing to rectify the situation in some way.

We will fix that problem you are having at no cost.  We stand by our warranty.  As for the fan mod, we can disable the 12v, but your console will overheat again and you will get the 3 red lights again.  We do this modification to ensure you dont get the 3 red lights again.

What would they have done if you wanted the console returned?  Would they have kept the repair fee, even though they didn't fix it, and charged you money to ship the console back to you?

Do you 100% know that they couldn't fix the console?  Maybe they fixed the console and then told you that they couldn't fix it, but they would give you a full refund if you let them keep the console.  That way they can make much more money selling a fixed console.

We dont keep the repair fee if you want your console returned.  We dont charge for an unsuccessful repair.

As for your concern about knowing if we cannot fix the console, we are not in the business to rip anyone off.  We have repaired close to 4000 consoles and I have plenty of references who have had hundreds of consoles repaired by my company.  In addition, we are also featured in the official xbox magazine where we had the editor check out our place.  If you are still unsure, note serials of every component in the system.  If you are local and want to check us out, feel free to check out our repair shop and play halo 3 on live on our HD tv smile.gif

I've tried alot of different things to fix the ROD but it fixed the problem temporarily.  The ROD always come back after a week or two.  Can someone confirm that reflowing the GPU works and how long it lasted since you got a reflowed done.  Thanks in advance guys.

My apologies for digging up an old thread.

It appears that the Xb360Reflow website is down. What happened to that company?

Could any of you recommend additional companies that perform reballing services other than Xbox360-Pros?

Nobody does a reball for $35.
Someone may claim to do it but reality is a spray with a heat gun and a load of bullshit thrown in about pro repair and reballing

Yes I am aware, that is why I said they do reflows for 35 dollars. I said that their username is "SuperiorReball" and they have a website, so I would think that they would reball your GPU for the right price (of well over 35 dollars)

The website has been built by a 10 year old using MS publisher. A company that really did have the equipment to do this would charge the correct money and would have a professional web site. I personally wouldn't trust anyone with my gear who operates a web site like that.

Ok, so there is a perfect time for me to post my experience.

Everything went fine when I shipped it out there and they sent it back around 10 days later. It was later than expected, but I didn't care.

When it came back the USB door on the front no longer had the spring working. The door just fell open and stayed. Once again, I didn't care TOO much, as I was told this was a permanent fix and I should probably expect some collateral damage along the way. Also, I should note that I paid $150 ($30 fee for estimate and then $120 for repair).

Now, come 6 months later of it working fine and I'm back to the same issue. It did exactly what it did the first time with occasionally erroring on start-up and then a restart would fix it. Now, it completely broke. It won't ever start up correctly, with the same error code. Figuring the xbox was toast, I opened it up to see what they did. I was afraid if I opened it up after they fixed it, I'd screw something up, so I never touched it.

First off, my x-clamps are gone. I don't know if this is part of the process and I'm a newb, but they were gone. Next, there were tools marks all over the inside of the case. Overall, I paid $150 to extend my 360 for 6 months.

I'm not trying to bash these guys, I'm just sharing my experience.

laugh.gif ^^^this guy cracks me up LOL, he is like that little foreign friend no one pays attention to.  "ok ok thats nice bonzo,...."

I think what he is trying to say is that there is no permanent fix for 360, no reballing no nothing, there are a couple of people who think they have, including bonzo, but it is only speculation as none have had time to prove anything.

So people don't waste your time on paying a "professional" it is what it is, and there are many ways extend the life of your 360 and the number one way is extended warranty.
