Okay, i've been getting 2 red lights about every ten minutes I play (less now). i've gotten the 3 red lights a long time back, Like half a year ago... Anyways I tried the towel trick to play it for awhile before I sent it to MS. I got about 10 hours from that. Than I found out that I am not under warranty for 2 red lights anymore, which is pretty awesome... =/

2 red lights means overheating, but I left it off overnight with fans blowing at it, 3 feet of room minimum of space on all sides, and played it the next day at 2am. Lasted around 10-15 minutes. So is there any other cause for the 2 red lights?

Anyways, I just wanted to know what you guys recommend I mod/fix in the console to fix the 2 red lights/make it last a long time, I don't care about voiding my warranty, since I don't really have one anymore. -.-

wow man, your 360 survived an overnight without the fans on?

that's going to the guinness book of records for sure  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

well i have some advices, for example, don't use the towel trick, it will harm some components on your mobo (if not already)

also, if you're getting overheat problems (the 2 lights are definitely indicating that problem), then you should do  everything possible to bring down the temperature inside the box, there are many things you can do, like:

- replacing the stock fans for talismoon fans which are better and more quiet
- modding the shroud using a divider (you can find a tutorial for that in this section by RBJTech)
- installing an extra fan inside the box
- replacing the thermal paste on the gpu / cpu
- installing an heatsink on the exposed ram chips
- installing thermal pads on the un-exposed ram chips
- installing an heatsink on the ANA/HANA chip


well i think i didn't forget anything, but if i did, i think the most important mods are there.

and by the way, if you already had the 3 red lights, then also replace the x-clamps, it's always better to replace them before you get real 3 red lights trouble

you can do them all at once, so you don't have to disassemble the 360 more than once  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

How am I covered? I've heard they will send it back to me and charge me for shipping if it doesn't have the 3RLOD. I don't want to have to send it in, and get it sent back to me while i'm charged for shipping and no repairs...  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

Actually, yeah that's starting to sound better to me than modding. Maybe I should just phone MS and say I have the 3 red lights. I mean what are they going to do. Say I didn't get them... =/

Warranty Fraud and talk of such is not tolerated here on XS, read the rules. ElDom is gone for his comment and khfan1 you get a week off to brush up on forum rules, plus it's not gonna take M$ long to plug in your 360 and see it has 2RL instead of 3RL there.
