Has anyone figured out where the tilt sensor is on the guitar?  I have one that has the tilt problem and its stuck in 'on position' so it doesn't work in the game at all.  Plugging the guitar into my laptop with Vista, it shows up as a controller, back buttons works there but the 'z-axis' which is the tilt axis, is stuck half way up on game controller panel, so i'm assuming this is what is causing the problem as the axis is registering the guitar as already being upright, so back and tilting it won't work, since i can never get the 'z-axis' to return to the 0 position.  I would gladly solder the stupid tilt thing off and put a momentary button on the neck to activate star power, I just need to know where the tilt sensor is.  There is nothing on the 360 guitar that looks like the ps2 tilt sensors or that looks like a sensor at all really.  Also, I bought this used and can tell this guitar has been taken apart before as their is stripped screw head inside.  It's the newer model with the fixed wammy bar.  does anyone have a pic of the main PCB in the guitar.  Mine is missing reisitors 28,29 I think they are.  The two below them are 0 ohms, so they are just bridges, I'm just wondering why those two aren't their and if they are related to the tilt problem.

Does anyone have any pics of the boards to compare to and any idea what I can desolder to get this stupid thing working.

R28 and R29 are supposed to be missing. The IC U5 right next to them (mounted at an angle) is the 3 axis Accelerometer that the guitar uses to know if it's tilted or not. The Y-axis is the one that registers the normal or up position, the Z-axis stays in the middle but should move if ya shake the guitar back and forth, from front to back.

Does the back button set off the Star Power in game still? If it does just use those points for your new neck button there to activate it. It would be hard to say if the Accelerometer is bad, or if it's something wrong with the main IC without comparing it to a good one or swapping out the Accelerometer.

Nope, the back button still doesn't activate star power, so attaching leads to that won't do any good.  Hmmm, when hooked up to the PC, the Z-axis does stay in the center and moves when I shake the guitar, back button registers but nothing in the game at all.

I found the data sheet for the accelormeterHERE  I think I'm going to try killing power to the thing and see if the back button works.

thanks for posting the link to the datasheet.
any luck with this? i'm having a similar problem. once the tilt sensor stopped working the back button stopped activating star power. i could care less if the tilt sensor works but it would be nice to be able to use SP.

i tried a few methods and the easiest one i found to get around this is to solder a wire from the leg of R22 closest to the accelerometer IC to D+ on the back of the cable connection. after doing that i can now activate SP again by pushing the back button. i'm not sure if there is any difference between the circuit boards on the two models, but mine is the 95065.
