Just Got 3rlod

If I just buy a new/working mobo from someone and put it in my 360 will it work? I tried the 12 penny fix, but dont feel like messing with the other methods. Its a launch console and has been working flawlessly ever since I got it. Today I was playing Portal and it died on me. I'm so sad.  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

if you're getting the dvd-key with that mainboard, it might work.

Without dvd-key it'll be pretty worthless

I decided to try and get it fixed. Thing that worries me is, it wont even put a picture on the screen so I cant get any error codes.. I'm worried the gpu died. I'm not sure the xclamp method will work as I'm starting to think its not a heat issue. After all I had only been playing portal about 10mins at the most. I dont see how it could've got hot enough during that time to die like it did. What do you guys think?

I swear by these 3 steps I made:

If that doesn't work then you probably need to get it re-balled (links in that thread to re-ballers)

Oh, and it's not the heat that kills it (even though it does play a part in it), it's the warping of the motherboard. There really is no support that holds the middle section of the motherboard down tightly, which over time, causes the weakest points to bend (more-so on the gpu side which is why you see so many gpu 3RLOD issues) and eventually the contacts between the gpu and motherboard get too far apart, and give you the 3RLOD.

That reballing us site looks good. I'm probably gonna just do that. Thanks!
