Have I Exhausted All My Options ?
« on: October 18, 2007, 12:58:00 PM »

Hiya

My 360 has been working pretty well untill recently when i started getting the unreadabe disc slide in error (oddly after a update from M$). So i set about the usual methods clean laser ... pot calibration ... new laser ...

now ive just installed my brand spanking new laser (thanks RDC for the guide) and whammo excact same problem in the excact same place when im playing the game (this is on my origs and back ups).

i've toyed with the idea its some how related to a dying HDD as it always seems to be during/after a autosave, profile check or save game though i can not confirm it .Is it even possable that i could get the unreadable disc slide in from a faulty or dying HDD ?

I just wanted to know if anyone has had the same problem as i cant find any info about this problem and if anyone can suggest anything i havent thought of

cheers.

Right update , it seems if i play without my HDD attached it works fine i played my way through tiger woods 2008 until it usually crashes (without HDD)  and it passed the loading point no probs.

All signs lead to my HDD but ill borrow another tomorrow to test out playing with a different HDD

Have you tried clearing your cache? If it's always crashing in the same exact spot, chances are it isn't your DVD drive, especially if it's happening on an original and a backup of the same game.

after that i went to the extreme of formatting my hdd and transfering some of my saves back and forth from a mem card this also seemed to work but only for a short time
