How Can You Tell If You Have The New 65mm Processor?
« on: October 15, 2007, 04:19:00 PM »

So I was wondering how can you tell if you have the new 65mm processor besides actually taking off the heatsink and everything. I took apart my 360 and found that it had an extra heatpipe going to another heatsink so is that an indication of a 65mm processor? Picture below.

I can't see if it is a 90 or 65 nm processor on the picture but just say what 360 model you have and I should be able to help.

I have two of them, one is a Halo 3 edition and the other one is a pro edition, both have HDMI outputs.

Really? why would they want to take heatpipes away from a heatsink?

Well, if you have the Halo 3 edition after the lot number 734 it should have a 65 nm cpu in it.

I just recently bought a Halo 3 Special Edition, and its like 3 or 4 lots before that one, and has the heatpipe so its not a '65. Is it such a big deal, I have a 2 year store warranty, and 3 years with MS. As long as it doesnt play any better then I'm happy. I like the HALO edition a lot.

they removed the heatpipe because the 65nm's are much cooler, and probably don't need that

i would keep the heatpipe in the heatsinks just in case if i were the guy at microsoft who runs the show  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)
