I have a 360 (modded) that is hiccuping.
A few weeks ago I started playing Madden '08 and I first saw the 3 red lights. At that time I was not familiar with how it is possible to check the more detailed error code so I have nothing to report. After a reboot the problem disappeared. All was well for a little while.
Then I started playing Bioshock. Bioshock did not cause 3 red lights even onces but I did start experiencing spontaneous freezes. I started to research and it seemed like the freezes combined with the case of 3 red lights meant a gloomy end.
However more time passed and I was able to work through the freezes (rebooting, cleaning disk, letting 360 cool, etc). Today I tried to play Madden and the 360 wouldn't even boot into the menu, 3 red lights right away. Multiple reboots did not help.
I decided it was time to attempt the X-Clamp Replacement method. I went through the disassembly of the 360 but at the very last moment I read that it was possible to find out the secondary error codes. I brought the disassembled 360 downstairs, hooked it up and turned it on. The familiar red lights went on. I turned it off and grabbed two pens with which I would poke the appropriate buttons.
On the reboot the 360 came alive. The 3 red rings of light have disappeared however Bioshock still freezes so I'm positive the error hasn't gone.
Should I follow through with the procedure? Should I wait until it keels over completely? Anybody experience a similar situation?
