So far things seem to be going well with this mod, but this is my first attempt to get rid of e74.  I used the 10/32 dye, and I tried it with the nylons.  With the nylons the MB doesn't sit in the metal case right.  So I am going to try it w/o the nylons now.
It's my first time messing with Thermal Compound.  I couldn't use that Business card to smooth it very evenly.. so if this doesn't work the first time, I think I know where the problem is!

I did this mod with success, and this is the best method I have seen.  A couple of buddies still use the washer/screw method with issues after a few weeks.  I have had mine running 12 plus hours multiple times, and have traveled with it twice with no issues yet. (Knock on wood)  I have also helped non-computer savvy people fix their heat related issues referencing this method.

Thanks Tortuga.. if I didn't say so before. I hope this gets out to more people who are frustrated with out-of-warranty xbox failures.

**One thing I did was use the flat part of a business card to smooth out the paste.  (I couldn't get it going "blade" style.)

**The other thing I did was use a heat gun just to make sure, but i didn't wrap or anything like that.  Not the smartest, but it worked.  I just used some common sense: I only fanned the back, and only along the circuits.
