Bought Broken
« on: August 15, 2007, 09:55:00 PM »

i bought a broken 360 off of ebay and it has 3 red lights. the error code is 0020 and i have done the x clamp replacement to fix 0102 and it worked fine. but i did the x clamp on this one and it did nothing. still has 0020. i read that heating it up will reset the chips solder points and then it is good to go. but i also read that heating it up in any way can and will hurt the system permanently.

does anybody have any other ideas before i throw this thing under a towel for 15 minutes?

0020 (Not yet known, possibly overheating)

i wouldn't throw towels on it right now, since its possibly overheating, try cooling the gpu and the cpu itself, or, check if the heatsinks are well screwed on, cause if they are loose, the xbox360 knows and it will give you the red lights

good luck

well i got it for only $80 and the screws are on there pretty good. i bought it knowing it had 3 red lights and getting it reflowed isnt an option. i like to do things myself. i figure if it doesnt start working then i have an extra case and an ms25 plus the rf board so im happy.

update:
towel trick worked for now, ill turn it back on in the morning and see how its going.

Try loosening the xclamp screws a bit.

If it doesnt work later.
