Rrod Fix Last Week, Now Drive Sometimes Reads?
« on: July 30, 2007, 08:28:00 AM »

Just got my box back from someone who fixed the overheating issues I was having, they probably did the X clamp fix, but after 3 days, I was playing GH2 when all of a sudden I got an error message about the disc then it jumped back to the dashboard. I tried to boot the game back up and the disc was unreadable. Tried a few other discs and it sounds like it's spinning and trying to read, maybe a faint click while it's searching but nothing sounds bad, no grinding or anything like that. After that I got pissed and put the box in the closet and went out and bought a PS3.

Last night I plugged the 360 back in to check it again and what do you know the first game I put it booted right up played for awhile and then same issue. I starting trying other games and sometimes it reads, sometimes it doesn't. I'm wondering if the shaking for shipping it around the US for repair maybe bounced something out of whack? I've heard about a laser tweak anyone can do at home, does anyone have any recomendations? I got GH2 to work last night and played for about an hour, it didn't freak out on me so the problem is very intermintent. Thanks!

Google it. <<-click me.

It's not something 'anyone' can do at home either, you need a multi-meter, know how to use it and be able to follow instructions OR not mind tanking your drive and can afford replacing it (which you seem to have covered. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) ) if you can't do the 3 afore mentioned things and try anyway.

EDIT: Just saw you have cross posted in Newbie Chat as well with the same issue, this thread is now Closed.
